Nigerian actor and comedian Frank Idowu, popularly known as Frank Donga, has taken up a new role with the Government of Saskatchewan, Canada.
According to the official Saskatchewan Government Directory, the entertainer now serves as a Multimedia Communications Specialist in the Communications Branch of the province’s Ministry of Agriculture.
Before relocating abroad, Frank Donga rose to prominence through his satirical web series The Interview on Ndani TV, where he portrayed a frustrated job seeker — a role that earned him a 2015 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy.
An Agricultural Science graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Donga also appeared in several Nollywood hits, including The Wedding Party, The Wedding Party 2, and Banana Island Ghost.
His appointment has sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians applauding his career transition from entertainment to public service abroad.
Although the comedian has not publicly confirmed whether he has quit acting, he once reflected on migration and personal growth, writing:
“The truth is leaving Nigeria does not guarantee you’ll get rich. Likewise, deciding to stay does NOT mean you’re more patriotic. Sometimes, all people want is where they can maximise their potentials and live in peace. Whatever you decide to do, I pray your dreams come true.”
Frank Donga has long been known for using humour to spotlight unemployment and everyday struggles in Nigeria. His latest move marks a new chapter, adding him to the growing list of Nigerian entertainers finding opportunities overseas while staying connected to their creative roots.
