Why I won’t drag NFF to FIFA over unpaid salary – Sunday Oliseh

Sunday Oliseh

Former Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh, has revealed that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) still owes him $26,000 in unpaid wages from his time in charge of the national team.

Speaking on the Home Turf podcast, the 51-year-old coach disclosed that despite several calls from people urging him to take legal action, he has refused to do so out of patriotism.

“Till today, I am the only Nigerian coach ever to resign. And till today, they are still owing me two months’ salary, which is $26,000,” Oliseh said.

The former midfielder noted that although he is confident he would win the case if he took it before FIFA, he has no interest in dragging his country through an international legal battle.

“A lot of people have asked me to take the NFF to court. I will not take my fatherland to a western court. It starts with FIFA, and I will win,” he added.

Oliseh, who managed the Super Eagles between 2015 and 2016, also expressed frustration over how the media often misrepresents such issues.

“When they write it in the media, they will say ‘Oliseh takes Nigeria to court.’ They won’t say ‘Oliseh takes NFF to court,’” he lamented.

His revelation has reignited discussions about unpaid salaries and poor treatment of local coaches within Nigerian football administration.
