Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has claimed that three more governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are set to resign from the party.
Fayose made the revelation during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme monitored by Daily Post, on Wednesday.
His statement comes in the wake of the recent defection of Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, from the PDP — a move that has intensified speculations about internal instability within the opposition party.
According to the outspoken ex-governor, the PDP may soon be left with only five governors if the internal wrangling continues unchecked.
“Let me tell you, there are three more governors that will leave soon. There will be five remaining. The five remaining, one of them will struggle to catch the ticket, and they all know that the ticket is an ordinary tissue paper,” Fayose declared.
He further accused some PDP governors of being responsible for the party’s continued decline, alleging that their obsession with power and control is weakening the party’s structure.
“They are largely killing the party because they want to control it. This is what happened in 2023,” he added.
Fayose’s remarks have reignited conversations around the future of the PDP, which continues to grapple with leadership tussles and internal divisions following the 2023 general elections.
