Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of abusing power and undermining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across the South-West region.
Speaking during an interview on TVC, Fayose alleged that Makinde monopolised valuable lands in Oyo State and sidelined many individuals who supported his rise to power.
“Almost everybody who worked for his ascension has been driven away,” Fayose claimed.
He further accused the Oyo governor of dismantling the PDP’s political structure in the South-West, stating, “Makinde has destroyed all PDP structures in the South-West.”
Fayose also questioned the credibility of the PDP’s internal processes in Osun State, alleging that a candidate who did not purchase the party’s nomination form eventually emerged as its flagbearer.
Recounting a personal experience, he alleged that Makinde orchestrated an attack against him during a political event in Osun State, describing the governor as “a small boy” politically.
Positioning himself as a senior figure in Nigerian politics, Fayose described himself as an elder statesman and stressed that he governed Ekiti State without the influence of political godfathers.
“I fought my governorship without a godfather,” he said.
The former governor openly declared his allegiance to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, saying, “I’m a Wike person. Anywhere Wike is, that is where I am.”
Despite his criticisms, he reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, insisting that he would never defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
