Content creator and social commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has revealed that Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy donated $100,000 (approximately ₦150 million) to support humanitarian causes nationwide.
In a video shared online, Burna Boy was seen seated beside VeryDarkMan as the donation was disclosed.
According to VeryDarkMan, the funds will be split equally between freeing indigent prisoners and settling hospital bills for patients unable to afford medical care.
He explained that $50,000 (about ₦75 million) will be used to secure the release of individuals imprisoned solely for their inability to pay fines, which he said typically range from ₦30,000 to ₦300,000.
The remaining $50,000 will go toward clearing outstanding hospital bills for patients receiving treatment in government and public hospitals.
VeryDarkMan noted that the funds are currently in his custody while the necessary legal documentation is being processed for the prisoners’ release.
He added that he plans to gather data on fined inmates across all 36 states to ensure the funds are distributed fairly. Similarly, hospital payments will be directed strictly to verified cases of genuine need.
Expressing appreciation for the gesture, he said, “Thank you Burna Boy for this kind gesture. God bless you, and thank you for trusting me with this much money and believing that I will carry out this project.”
The announcement has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians praising Burna Boy for using his wealth to make a meaningful social impact beyond the music industry.
