“Not Everything You See Online Is Real” – AY Makun Warns Nigerians

Ay Makun called out for flaunting a fake Hermes bag

Popular Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, widely known as AY Makun has advised Nigerians to stop comparing their lives to what they see on social media, warning that most of it is staged and unrealistic.

In a video shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, AY Makun highlighted how social media often paints a false picture of success, filled with luxury lifestyles, exotic vacations, and designer outfits that don’t always reflect reality.

According to him, many of the glamorous posts people admire are carefully curated to project fake images of wealth and happiness.

The comedian revealed that some influencers and content creators borrow clothes, cars, and even shoot photos in hotel lobbies just to appear rich and successful.

“Many of these celebrities you envy are living on borrowed wigs, borrowed outfits, and borrowed lifestyles. Some take pictures in hotel lobbies and call them their new homes, while others pose with cars that don’t belong to them,” AY said. “Social media is like a movie set; not everything you see online is real.”

He urged his fans to focus on personal growth, live simply, and avoid the pressure of online competition.
