Former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola has revealed that President Bola Tinubu mentored him and the current Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, over two decades ago.
Speaking during the launch of the Omi Eko water transport initiative on Saturday, Fashola said Tinubu entrusted them with key responsibilities early in their careers, paving the way for their growth into leadership positions.
“I must thank the governor who, along with me about twenty-something years ago, were young men being mentored by another governor who is now president today,” Fashola said.
“He entrusted us, and this is the story of our journey. Of course, Lagos has been busy lately on the waters — from the E-one to Omi Eko — and who knows what next,” he added.
The former Works and Housing Minister praised the Sanwo-Olu administration for its innovation in infrastructure and urban development, noting the successful partnership with international agencies.
“Kudos to the government led by Sanwo-Olu and the entire team. Let me also say that you could not handpick better partners, especially the French development agency,” Fashola said.
