Former British boxer Ryan Taylor, who was once engaged to Nigerian DJ and billionaire heiress DJ Cuppy, has opened up about their past relationship in a recent episode of the Ladders Podcast.
Taylor revealed shocking details about Cuppy’s attitude towards Nigerians, claiming that she often discouraged him from hiring people from her own country in his business.
“Would it be odd if I told you she didn’t like people from her country?” Taylor asked during the interview.
“She would come into my business and didn’t want me employing her fellow country people. When we walked in the mall, people would run from their counters asking for money,” he added.
The pair got engaged in November 2022 after a whirlwind romance but reportedly went their separate ways by mid-2023. Their breakup rumors began circulating when they unfollowed each other on social media and stopped posting together, sparking fan speculation.
Reflecting on their time together, Taylor said he has no regrets despite how things turned out.
“Everything happens for a reason. The time that I met her, where we both were at the time, it had to happen. No regrets, lesson learnt,” he stated.
Cuppy, born Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, is the daughter of Nigerian billionaire businessman Femi Otedola and one of the most recognizable female DJs in Africa. She has yet to respond to Taylor’s recent claims.
