At just 18, Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal is already one of football’s brightest stars — and one of its highest earners. The teenage prodigy is reportedly preparing to splash millions on a new luxury home that once belonged to Blaugrana legend Gerard Piqué and his former partner, global pop icon Shakira.
According to El País, Yamal has shown interest in purchasing the lavish property where Piqué and Shakira lived during their 12-year relationship, which began in 2010 and ended in 2022. The estate, built in 2012, spans a sprawling 3,800 square metres and features three houses — a main residence and two secondary dwellings — along with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a tennis court, gym, multiple terraces, and even a recording studio.
When the couple listed the property for sale in 2022 after their separation, the asking price for the full complex was €14 million (£12m/$16m). Since then, one of the smaller residences has reportedly been sold off, trimming the price to around €11 million for the remaining two homes. The estate boasts six bedrooms, five bathrooms, and total privacy — an ideal setup for the young superstar.
Yamal, however, reportedly plans to make significant renovations to suit his personal taste and lifestyle. While few could afford such an investment, his meteoric rise in football has placed him in a unique position. His new six-year Barcelona contract, signed in May when he was just 17, is said to pay up to €30 million (£26m/$35m) annually — potentially earning him as much as €180 million (£157m/$209m) over the duration of the deal.
Beyond his football salary, Yamal’s global marketability is also skyrocketing. Forbes estimates his total yearly earnings could reach $43 million (£32m), placing him among the top 10 highest-paid footballers worldwide — alongside Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Jude Bellingham.
The young winger is also known for his close bond with his family, having reportedly purchased homes for his mother, father, and grandmother. Despite his success, Yamal has previously said he still lives with his mother. Whether he will have his family join him at the new estate remains to be seen, though the property’s two homes could make it an easy arrangement.
Adding another layer of intrigue, Yamal is currently in a relationship with 25-year-old Argentine singer Nicki Nicole, who recently said she is “very in love.” Interestingly, if she were to move in, their romance would echo that of the mansion’s previous residents — another young Barcelona player and an older South American music star.
