EPL: If Arsenal don’t win title, Arteta will be sacked – Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney Turned Down Everton FC Managerial Position

Former Manchester United captain, Wayne Rooney, has claimed that Arsenal will part ways with manager Mikel Arteta if the club fails to win the Premier League title this season.

With nine rounds of games played, the Gunners currently sit four points clear at the top of the table following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday, secured by Eberechi Eze’s brilliant volley.

Rooney, speaking on his BBC podcast, said Arsenal now have the depth, experience, and quality required to finally clinch the title after narrowly missing out in recent seasons.

“Arteta has got a squad now where they’re really expected to win the league,” Rooney said.

“I think they can. The squad is good enough now and I think they’ve had the experiences which have got them close, but I think they’re ready for it, I think they’re ready to do it.

“There’s no excuses now, there’s no excuse. If they don’t win it now, you’d probably see a change of manager.”

Rooney’s remarks add pressure on Arteta, whose Arsenal side have shown consistency and resilience early in the campaign but continue to face intense competition from Manchester City and Liverpool in the title race.
