Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has denied widespread reports suggesting that head coach Antonio Conte is set to resign following the club’s recent 2–0 Serie A defeat to Bologna.
Rumours circulated over the weekend that Conte was considering stepping down amid mounting pressure after a shaky start to the season.
However, De Laurentiis swiftly dismissed the claims, describing them as completely unfounded.
“It’s a fake story. I am proud to have a man like Conte next to me, the club and the squad,” he told football journalist Fabrizio Romano.
“He is a guarantee for our club, our players and our fans.”
Conte, who guided Napoli to the Serie A title in his debut season, has faced a challenging campaign this term. After 11 matches, the defending champions sit fourth in the table — trailing Roma, AC Milan, and Inter Milan.
