Ballon d’Or: Why Haaland and I might not win award – Harry Kane

Bayern Munich to Miss Harry Kane for 'Time Being' Due to Injury

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has acknowledged that his chances of ever winning the prestigious Ballon d’Orhinge heavily on securing major trophies such as the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA World Cup.

Speaking in an interview with the UK Mirror, the England captain admitted that individual brilliance alone is not enough to claim football’s top individual honour.

“I could score 100 goals this season, but if I don’t win the Champions League or the World Cup, you’re probably not going to win the Ballon d’Or,” Kane said.
“It’s the same with Haaland, with any player. You have to be winning those major trophies.”

Kane is widely expected to be among the favourites for next year’s Ballon d’Or, following a blistering start to the season. The 30-year-old has already netted 13 Bundesliga goals and five Champions League goals, reinforcing his reputation as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards.

His international form has also been impressive. The Three Lions qualified for the 2026 World Cup, winning all their qualifying matches without conceding a single goal.

Despite his personal milestones, Kane maintains that collective success remains the key to clinching football’s biggest individual prize.
