Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has suggested that Real Madrid would not have tolerated his performance last season, claiming he would have been dismissed within six months if he had been in charge at the Spanish club.
Guardiola made the remarks during his pre-match press conference ahead of Manchester City’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid.
The City boss described Real Madrid as the “hardest” club in the world to manage, noting the intense pressure and expectations placed on their managers.
His comments came in response to questions about Xabi Alonso, whose future at the Bernabéu has become uncertain following a poor run of results.
“Managing Real Madrid is the hardest job in football,” Guardiola said.
“If I performed the way I did last season as Real Madrid’s manager, I would’ve been sacked in six months.”
