Popular Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has taken to social media to clarify misconceptions about her age after receiving a surprising message from an aspiring cinematographer.
The actress shared a screenshot on her Instagram page showing a direct message from the cinematographer, who offered to cover what he assumed would be her 50th birthday celebration next year, free of charge. In the message, he introduced himself and expressed interest in documenting the milestone event.
Reacting to the message, Adunni Ade laughed off the assumption and used the moment to address what she described as Nigerians’ obsession with age. She made it clear that she is not yet 48, let alone approaching 50, stressing that her age has been consistently exaggerated over the years.
In her response, the actress jokingly pleaded with fans to stop adding years to her age, saying she still has some time to go before reaching such milestones.
Despite correcting the misunderstanding, she acknowledged that the cinematographer meant well and encouraged him to post more of his work so she could assess his skills. She added that she might consider working with him at a future event.
Adunni Ade’s post quickly drew reactions online, with many fans applauding her sense of humor while others joined the conversation about age assumptions and societal pressure, especially on women in the entertainment industry.
