Hollywood actor Idris Elba recently came face-to-face with his newly revealed wax figure at Madame Tussauds London, and the likeness was so impressive that it caught him completely off guard.
The moment was equal parts shocking and entertaining for the London-born star, who couldn’t help but share the experience with someone special — his mother.
Clearly amused and amazed, the 53-year-old pulled out his phone as cameras rolled, taking in the incredibly lifelike replica before placing a FaceTime call to his mother, Eve, to get her honest reaction. Her response was immediate and unforgettable.
“Oh, my God!”
The wax figure is dressed in the same outfit Idris Elba wore in July 2024 when he met with King Charles to discuss youth violence and The King’s Trust, adding a layer of personal significance to the display beyond its visual impact.
Reflecting on the journey that led to the unveiling, the multi-talented actor — known for standout roles in Luther, The Wire, and the upcoming Hijack — described the experience as surreal. He compared the process to preparing for a film role, except this time, he was portraying himself. Addressing onlookers, Idris Elba noted that seeing a permanent version of himself based in London felt especially meaningful.
The wax figure is now open for public viewing at Madame Tussauds London.
