Rapper and filmmaker Abdulrasheed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skillz, has accused Nigerian music stars Don Jazzy and D’banj of betraying him during the early stages of their careers.
JJC Skillz made the allegation during an interview on Echo Room, where he reflected on his past relationship with the two artists and their time together in the United Kingdom.
According to him, he met Don Jazzy and D’banj when they were still aspiring musicians in the UK and played a significant role in supporting them. He claimed he provided them with food, clothing, and accommodation, introduced them to shows, and connected them with key industry figures. In return, he said he expected mutual support for his own music career.
JJC Skillz alleged that the relationship later deteriorated after rapper Ruggedman informed him that D’banj had accused him of cheating them financially.
“Nobody knows you, bro. I take you to shows, buy your clothes, food, you even live in my house and I take you everywhere. How can I be cheating you when you haven’t made any money?” JJC Skillz said.
He also mentioned Ayo and DJ Abass, noting that they were all expected to support one another professionally, but alleged that some individuals instead worked against his interests.
As of the time of reporting, Don Jazzy, D’banj, and others mentioned in the interview have not publicly responded to the allegations.
JJC Skillz first gained prominence in the UK as a member of the group JJC and the 419 Squad before expanding into film and television. He was previously married to Nollywood actress Funke Akindele; the marriage ended in 2022, and the former couple share twin boys.
