Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The resignation was contained in a letter dated December 29 and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward in Mangu Local Government Area. The decision takes immediate effect.
In the letter, which was acknowledged by the ward leadership the following day, Governor Mutfwang said his decision was informed by the need for focused leadership, clarity of direction and improved service delivery.
He expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing him the platform to serve and thanked party leaders, supporters and members for their support over the years.
“Given the realities of the moment and guided by my commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction and service delivery, I am compelled to seek an alternative platform,” the governor stated.
The development has generated political reactions across Plateau State, amid reports suggesting that Mutfwang may be preparing to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
