Controversial Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin has responded to reports that she was arrested for alleged defamation of character.
The actress was reportedly taken into custody a few days ago after an alleged petition was filed by fellow Nollywood stars Toyin Abraham, Iyabo Ojo, and Dayo Amusa.
The arrest claim was first made public by popular Nigerian influencer Esabod, who is known to be an associate of Iyabo Ojo. In an Instagram post, Esabod alleged that Lizzy had been arrested and remanded at the Alagbon Police Station in Lagos.
She wrote:
“Lizzy Anjorin has been arrested by ??? has been remanded in Alagbon police station in Lagos.
Lizzy bail condition will be reviewed from Monday for defamation of character.”
Reacting to the viral report, Lizzy Anjorin addressed the claim via her Instagram page on Sunday evening. Without directly confirming or denying the alleged arrest, the actress dismissed the narrative, writing:
“Believe Esabod and Iyabo Ojo at your own risk.”
As of the time of this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the actresses allegedly linked to the petition have issued an official statement confirming the arrest or the defamation claims.
