Nigerian music stars have earned notable recognition at the MOBO Awards following the announcement of nominations for the 2026 Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards.

Organisers confirmed that the awards ceremony will be held on March 26, 2026, at Co-op Live, Manchester, marking the 30th anniversary of the prestigious event dedicated to celebrating Black music and culture.

Among the Nigerian artistes nominated this year are Wizkid, Davido, Ayra Starr, Rema, Tiwa Savage, Adekunle Gold, and Shallipopi.

The artistes are nominated in the Best African Music Act category, competing against performers from across the continent.

Ayra Starr also picked up a nomination in the Best International Act category, placing her in contention with global stars such as Cardi B, Gunna, Kehlani, Tyla, and Vybz Kartel.

The 2026 MOBO nominations span 20 categories, including Best Male Act, Best Female Act, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Newcomer. Several UK-based artistes also received multiple nominations across different categories.

Founded in 1996 in the United Kingdom, the MOBO Awards recognise achievements in music of Black origin across genres including hip hop, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, and African music. Over the years, the awards have played a significant role in spotlighting Black artistes on the global stage.
