“This is not a social media dispute” – Ned Nwoko Explains Arrest of Regina Daniels’ Friend, Cites Alleged Criminal Defamation and Threats

Regina Daniels drops more Bombshell on estranged husband

Senator Ned Nwoko has explained the circumstances surrounding the arrest of Izuegbu Anthonet, a close friend of his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels.

In a statement issued by his communication team and seen by Dockaysworld, the senator said Ann was arrested over allegations of criminal defamation, threats, and other unlawful activities linked to social media posts made against him and members of his family.

According to the statement, Ann allegedly made public claims accusing Nwoko of physically assaulting his wife, Laila Nwoko, and causing her to suffer a miscarriage. The senator described the allegations as “entirely false,” insisting that no such incident ever occurred and that the claims were made without evidence.

The statement further alleged that Ann is implicated in the procurement of an illegal abortion for Regina Daniels during her lawful marriage to the senator. Nwoko’s team said the allegation is already on record, has been referenced publicly in the past, and is currently under investigation by relevant authorities.

The development follows earlier public complaints by Regina Daniels, who accused the senator of bullying her and questioned why he continued to target her and members of her family. Her elder brother, Sammy Daniels, was previously arrested following a petition linked to the senator but was later released after public backlash and appeals.

Nwoko’s communication team also disclosed that a formal witness statement dated October 29, 2025, was submitted to the Nigeria Police Force, specifically to the Area Commander of the Maitama Police Station in Abuja.

The statement reportedly outlines repeated actions allegedly involving Ann, including claims of sourcing and administering controlled and illegal substances, with law enforcement authorities said to be investigating identified suppliers and corroborating evidence.

According to the senator’s team, Ann’s arrest followed a social media post in which she allegedly issued threats, made derogatory remarks, and repeated defamatory accusations against Senator Nwoko and Mrs. Laila Nwoko, actions they say amount to criminal defamation and intimidation under Nigerian law.

“This is not a social media dispute but a law-enforcement matter grounded in evidence, witness testimonies, and due process,” the statement said, rejecting claims that the arrest was aimed at silencing or victimising her.

The senator and his family, the statement added, will allow investigations to run their course and avoid what it described as “trial by social media,” while urging the public to rely on verified facts and due process.
