If the club is found guilty, potential sanctions could include heavy fines or points deductions, outcomes that could significantly impact their domestic dominance. However, reports suggest these legal risks are not the club’s primary source of anxiety.

According to The Telegraph, greater concern lies in the uncertainty surrounding Guardiola’s future at the Etihad. Players are said to be aware that contingency plans are already being discussed internally in the event the Spanish tactician departs at the end of the season.

Guardiola’s current contract runs until summer 2027, but he has previously hinted that he will make a definitive decision on his future later this year.

With Guardiola widely regarded as the architect of City’s modern success, his potential exit is viewed as a far more immediate and destabilising threat than the looming verdict on the Premier League charges.
