Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has revealed that he and late South African rapper AKA settled their long-standing feud before the rapper’s death.
The two artistes fell out in 2019 after Burna Boy threatened to confront AKA over comments linked to xenophobic tensions, following online exchanges during an AFCON quarterfinal match.
However, Burna Boy disclosed that the misunderstanding was quietly resolved through private conversations. He made this known in a posthumous birthday message shared on his Instagram page in honour of the late rapper.
According to him , although they had squashed their issues via Twitter direct messages, many people were unaware of the reconciliation. He expressed deep regret that AKA passed away before they could meet in person and work on planned collaborations.
“Happy birthday Supa Mega. We fell out over bullsh*t even though we squashed it over Twitter DMs nobody knew about, we never got the chance to really link up and do what we were supposed to do,” Burna Boy wrote.
“I will regret that until I see you again. Until then, R.I.P Mega.”
AKA was shot dead outside a restaurant in Durban on February 10, 2023. His murder trial is still ongoing.
