Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has delivered a positive fitness update ahead of Tuesday’s Premier League clash with Leeds United at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking at Chelsea’s Cobham training base on Monday, Rosenior confirmed that club captain Reece James is expected to be available despite feeling unwell earlier in the week.
“Reece is fit, he’s okay,” Rosenior said. “A small issue is that he is feeling unwell today, but hopefully he’s well enough to be involved against Leeds.”
The Chelsea boss also reassured supporters about the fitness of Cole Palmer, who is available after scoring a hat-trick in last weekend’s 3–1 victory over Wolves, and Andrey Santos, who has recovered from the swollen ankle he picked up in that game.
Defender Tosin Adarabioyo has returned to full training and is expected to be included in the matchday squad. Meanwhile, Romeo Lavia remains on a carefully managed recovery programme, having trained with the group over the last two days.
“Romeo has been on the training pitch with us in the last two days, which has been great to see,” Rosenior added. “We are making sure that when he’s back, he’s back for good.”
Chelsea go into the fixture on a strong run of form, having won four consecutive Premier League matches under Rosenior. Leeds, meanwhile, travel to London with confidence after securing a 3–1 win over Nottingham Forest in their previous outing.
