El-Rufai oppressed people as governor , now he’s s begging for rule of law – Adeyanju

Most BBNaija winners end up looking broke – Deji Adeyanju

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has criticised former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, accusing him of hypocrisy after he called for adherence to the rule of law following an alleged attempt to arrest him.

El-Rufai reportedly made the remarks after security operatives attempted to arrest him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport upon his return from Cairo, Egypt. The former governor was said to have resisted the move, insisting that the operatives formally issue him a letter of invitation instead of effecting an arrest on the spot.

In a statement shared publicly, El-Rufai said, ”My lawyers have issued a statement that condemns the illegal attempt to arrest me today at the Abuja airport upon my arrival from Cairo.

“Our country must outgrow executive overreach and deliberate disregard for the rule of law.”

Reacting via X, Adeyanju took a swipe at the former governor, writing: “El-Rufai who oppressed everyone yesterday is crying and begging for rule of law. Karma, thank you for this.”

The exchange has since sparked conversations online, with supporters and critics weighing in on the unfolding situation and the broader debate around governance and accountability.
