Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Queen Mercy Atang, has publicly confronted her ex after he allegedly sent her a Valentine’s Day message in 2026, years after what she described as a painful fallout.
In an emotional Instagram post, Queen revisited the ordeal she faced in 2024 when she got married, accusing her ex of orchestrating smear campaigns against her across WhatsApp, Snapchat, and Instagram.
“Remember 2024 when I got married? Remember the lies you spread about me… Recruiting your friends, even people I’ve never met, just to drag my name. There was nothing you didn’t say.”
“I Cried and Cried”
She revealed that at the time, she attempted to de-escalate the situation through private dialogue, reaching out to him directly and even involving his family members and employer.
According to her, she also contacted his brother — described as a family friend — and pleaded for the attacks to stop. Despite her efforts, she said the online harassment persisted.
“I called you and asked why… I called your boss to please beg you to stop spreading lies about me… I cried and cried.”
Valentine’s Apology Sparks Reaction
Fast forward to 2026, Queen said the same ex reached out, referring to her as “sister” and allegedly seeking her contact details to apologise. She questioned the motive behind the gesture.
“Or because I’m no longer married, you think I’m desperate for love? My brother, love is no longer in my dictionary… I’m no longer the mumu lover girl I used to be.”
She clarified that their relationship dated back to 2013 during their time at UNIZIK, stressing that once a relationship ends, it remains firmly in the past.
“Once you’re my ex, you remain my ex for life. I don’t play those games.”
“Public Mockery Deserves Public Response”
Queen explained that she chose to speak publicly because the alleged attacks against her were made publicly at the time. She claimed to have evidence of the statements shared about her, which were reportedly forwarded to her by friends.
Her post has since sparked conversations on accountability, forgiveness, and closure, with many supporters praising her for setting boundaries and confronting what she described as past emotional manipulation.
