Super Eagles attacker Victor Boniface has threatened legal action against a social media blogger who posted on X, claiming the Werder Bremen striker tested positive for cocaine and received a two-year ban from football.
The X user with the handle @YK_Milli posted on Friday: “Victor Boniface has now been banned from football for 2 years by FIFA after it reported he tested positive for hard drug tests, Cocaine to be precise.”
Many people doubted the report and urged the blogger to retract the post or face potential legal consequences.
The blogger stood by the claim until the post drew the player’s attention, who signaled he would pursue legal action. “Hope you get a better lawyer. For your sake I pray you get,” he wrote.
Boniface has been sidelined for the rest of the season after knee surgery he underwent during training in December, shortly after his loan move from Bayer 04 Leverkusen to Bremen.
