The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has criticised Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni over comments on the recently concluded area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory.
In a post on X on Sunday, Oseni questioned what he described as discrepancies in results involving the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He referenced a result sheet and suggested there were inconsistencies in figures recorded at a polling unit.
Responding, Onanuga accused the Arise TV anchor of spreading falsehoods and attempting to mislead the public.
“Arise TV should be ashamed of you. Because you want to please the mob that follows you, you are always eager to publish any nonsense, even when clearly so,” Onanuga wrote.
He argued that the result sheet cited by Oseni clearly stated the total number of votes recorded at the polling unit and that the APC’s figures were consistent with the overall tally.
“The result sheet you singled out for your mischief spelled out the APC votes. It showed the total votes recorded at the polling unit. And the votes recorded for APC were not at variance with the total score,” he said.
Onanuga also took aim at Oseni’s long-standing criticism of the ruling party.
“I expect you to have outgrown your pathological hatred for our party, since May 2023, when Almighty God gave power to President Tinubu,” he added.
The exchange follows the conduct of the FCT area council elections, which determined chairmanship and councillorship positions across the six area councils in Abuja.
