2027 election will be a walkover for me as sitting governor – Oborevwori boasts

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has expressed confidence that he will win the 2027 governorship election, citing his position as the incumbent governor and the achievements of his administration.

The governor made the remark during the weekend while inaugurating the 4.8-kilometre Oko–Amakom/Oko-Obiokpu/Oko-Anala Road in Oko Kingdom, along with other road networks in Asaba, both located in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State. He noted that if he could emerge victorious in the 2023 election before becoming governor, the 2027 poll would be much easier.

Oborevwori also declared that the state had effectively become a difficult terrain for opposition political parties due to the visible projects carried out by his administration across the state.

According to the governor, the extensive infrastructure development under his leadership has strengthened public confidence in government and positioned the state for continued political dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“When I contested the 2023 election, I won in 21 out of the 25 local government areas even when I was not yet a governor. With the level of development and projects we have delivered in almost three years, Delta State has become a no-go area for other political parties.”

Oborevwori further stated that his All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration remains committed to executing impactful projects that directly improve the lives of residents. He added that the newly commissioned road projects are strategic in boosting economic activities and improving connectivity among communities.

The governor recalled that the terrain around Oko was previously very difficult, particularly during the rainy season, making it almost impossible for farmers to transport their produce to markets.

He explained that many farmers had to pass through neighbouring Anambra State to sell their farm produce, often disposing of them at very low prices due to the challenges involved in bringing them back.

Speaking during the inauguration, the Director-General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency(DSCTDA), Patrick Ukah, said residents of the Delta State Capital Territory were witnessing another milestone in infrastructural development and improved connectivity within the area.
