Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has insisted he is still the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, despite reports of a takeover of the union’s secretariat in Abuja.
His reaction comes after members of a rival faction led by Tajudeen Baruwa reportedly took control of the union’s national headquarters, citing court rulings in their favour.
In a statement shared on his Instagram page on Monday, MC Oluomo described the development as a “forceful takeover” and maintained that the matter is still in court.
According to him, the referenced judgment does not directly involve him, and legal steps have already been taken to challenge it.
“The National President wishes to intimate members of the union and the general public that he was not a defendant in the purported judgment,” the statement read.
He added that the ruling has been appealed and that a stay of execution has already been filed, meaning the situation is not yet settled legally.
“The judgment has been appealed, and a stay of execution has been duly entered,” the statement continued.
MC Oluomo also said he has not engaged with Baruwa or any other party involved in the dispute, stressing that the case is still before the court.
He further noted that security agencies are monitoring the situation.
“The situation is under the control of security agencies,” the statement added.
He ended by reaffirming his position, stating clearly that he remains the National President of the union.
The latest development adds another layer to the ongoing leadership crisis within the NURTW, with both sides holding firm to their claims as the legal battle continues.
