Nigerian singer Asa has announced the death of her mother following a battle with a brain tumour.
The artist, born Bukola Elemide, shared the heartbreaking news in an Instagram post on Tuesday, March 24, revealing that the illness came suddenly and led to her mother’s passing.
In an emotional tribute, Asa described her mother as a central figure in her life, highlighting her kindness, humility, and sense of humour.
“My mother, my reason to be, my queen, my everything.
“A sudden brain tumor came without warning and took you too soon. You were generous. The kindest soul.
“You had your own quiet swag, you were extremely shy, and so funny. My biggest fan.
“You couldn’t hold a note to save your life, but you sang every one of my songs with your whole heart.
Your strength, your love, your spirit will remain with me forever. Rest now, Mum”
The singer’s tribute has since drawn sympathy from fans and colleagues, as many continue to send condolences and support during this difficult time.
