Megan Thee Stallion was rushed to hospital after falling ill during a performance of Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Tuesday night.
The rapper, whose real name is Megan Pete, recently began an eight-week run in the production at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City, where she plays the role of Harold Zidler.
Producers confirmed in a statement that she was forced to withdraw from the performance after becoming unwell.
“During Tuesday night’s production, Megan The Stallion started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated,” a spokesperson said. “We will share additional updates as more information becomes available.”
Her hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, also urged fans to keep her in their thoughts.
“Everyone say a prayer for Megan, we are all at the hospital,” he posted.
As of now, representatives of Megan Thee Stallion Have not provided further updates on her condition.
Speaking previously about her Broadway debut, she said, “Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honour. I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively and theatre is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace. Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties (her fans) to see a new side of me.”
The production is scheduled to close on July 26 after a seven-year run on Broadway.
