Media personality Madame Joyce is trending online after sharing her candid views on financial expectations in relationships, especially in today’s economic climate.

Speaking openly, she challenged the long-standing idea that men should shoulder all financial responsibilities in a household.

“I don’t believe that it’s fair in this economic state for a man to have 100 percent of financial responsibility in the household, that’s crazy,” she said.

According to her, many of these expectations are influenced by lifestyles seen among the ultra-rich, which do not reflect the reality for most people.

“If you are part of the 0.1 percent, yes, you’ll buy everything,” she added, noting that only a small fraction of earners can realistically afford such a lifestyle.

Using the United Kingdom as an example, she pointed out that many men earn between £40,000 and £60,000 annually, raising questions about the feasibility of supporting two people on a single income.

“For one person to survive on £2,600 a month, and then you now have to come and be looking after another person?” she asked.

Madame Joyce also encouraged women to reflect on their own financial standing when setting expectations in relationships, emphasising the importance of self-development.

“If you’re making around 30 to 40k, you’re going to be in the spaces of those boys,” she said, urging individuals to invest in education, skill building, and hustle to access higher earning opportunities.

Her comments have sparked widespread debate, with many agreeing that relationships today require shared financial responsibility, while others continue to defend more traditional roles.
