“Blockade Begins Immediately” — Trump Orders US Navy to Move on Strait of Hormuz Amid Rising Tensions With Iran

Trump Orders US Navy to Move on Strait of Hormuz Amid Rising Tensions With Iran

Donald Trump has reportedly ordered the United States Navy to begin a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, escalating tensions with Iran following failed peace talks in Pakistan.

The strategic waterway, which serves as a critical route for global shipments of oil, gas, and fertilisers, has become the latest flashpoint in the growing standoff between both nations.

In a statement shared on his social media platform on Sunday, Trump said the move is aimed at preventing Iran from benefiting from control of the strait, while also pushing for unrestricted international access.

“Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the finest in the world, will begin the process of blockading any and all ships trying to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz,” he stated.

He further warned that any form of resistance or hostile action would be met with overwhelming force.

The directive comes shortly after high level talks between the US and Iran ended without agreement over Tehran’s nuclear programme, further straining relations.

In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps pushed back strongly, insisting it already maintains control over activities in the waterway. The group warned that any attempt to challenge its authority could lead to serious consequences, describing the situation as a potential “deadly vortex.”

There are also reports suggesting Iran has begun restricting passage through the strait, allowing vessels linked to allied nations such as China while limiting access for others. Unconfirmed claims indicate Tehran may even introduce transit charges for ships navigating the route.

With both sides hardening their positions, the situation around the Strait of Hormuz is quickly becoming one of the most critical geopolitical flashpoints, with potential implications for global energy supply and international trade.
