Specialist radiologist Dr Musa Mthombeni has responded firmly to rumours alleging that he cheated on his wife, media personality Liesl Laurie Mthombeni, during a recent boys’ trip to Thailand.
The speculation began circulating on social media after users noted a noticeable absence of recent couple posts online, sparking unfounded suggestions that there may be trouble in their marriage.
Dr Musa and Liesl Laurie, who is Liesl Laurie Mthombeni, are widely known for openly sharing moments from their relationship, including vacations, celebrations, and milestones, which has made them one of Mzansi’s most followed celebrity couples.
On Wednesday, 15 April, an X user questioned why the couple had not posted together in a while. The post quickly gained traction, with gossip accounts on the platform amplifying claims of “trouble in paradise.”
As the rumours spread, Dr Musa took to X to shut them down, dismissing the allegations as completely false.
“Aowa Bathong. Mina futhi! What fresh lie is it today?” he wrote.
He went further to criticise the culture of online speculation and the speed at which misinformation spreads for engagement.
“Saphela Nkosi yam. Every time I see something controversial on the timeline, I check for a blue tick. Once I see it, I know it’s hunger tweeting.”
Dr Musa also issued a warning about the repeated use of the word “allegedly” in online gossip, suggesting it may not always protect users from consequences.
“One day le ‘ALLEGEDLY’ yenu is gonna end in ‘PUNITIVE COSTS’.”
His response quickly went viral, with many social media users backing him and calling out the spread of baseless claims targeting public figures.
Despite the online noise, Dr Musa made it clear that the rumours are false, as he continues focusing on his family life, medical career, and public engagements alongside his wife.
