“I Don’t Want To Kiss Half The Girls In Nollywood” – Clinton Joshua Reveals Why He Rejects Intimate Movie Roles

Clinton Joshua Reveals Why He Rejects Intimate Movie Roles

Nollywood actor Clinton Joshua has opened up about why he deliberately avoids kissing scenes in films, saying the decision is rooted in protecting his career from being boxed into repetitive romantic roles.

Speaking during an interview on TVC’s E Splash, the actor explained that while some may see intimate scenes as a normal part of acting, he views them as something that could shape how producers cast him in the future.

According to Joshua, once an actor becomes strongly associated with a particular type of role or on-screen behaviour, it can become difficult to break out of that image.

“I don’t kiss in movies because this is Nollywood and when you are doing that, I am not trying to brag, producers will likely give me the same role over and over again,” he said.

The actor, known for performances in For Her Sake, We Are All Yours and Flavours of the Heart, said he is intentional about maintaining versatility and does not want his career reduced to playing only romantic leads.

“I don’t want to kiss half the girls in Nollywood,” he added, a remark that has since sparked conversation online.

Joshua’s comments have added to a wider debate in Nollywood about boundaries, professionalism and how actors navigate intimate scenes.

Several stars have shared similar views in the past. Actress Bimbo Ademoye has spoken about being selective with scripts that involve intimate scenes, emphasising the importance of personal comfort and creative control.

Actor Daniel Etim Effiong has also discussed his cautious approach to such roles, revealing in previous interviews that he prays before filming intimate scenes and treats them with seriousness and professionalism.

Etinosa Idemudia has also weighed in on the subject, noting that intimate scenes are strictly part of the performance and should not be confused with real emotions.

For Clinton Joshua, however, the decision goes beyond comfort. It is also about protecting his long-term identity in Nollywood and ensuring he is not typecast into one lane. His remarks have now reignited discussions around artistic boundaries and career strategy in the film industry.
