A viral claim circulating online alleges that Femi Gbajabiamila said he almost lost his position as Chief of Staff because of controversies linked to Desmond Elliot and tensions within the Lagos State House of Assembly.
According to the statement being widely shared on social media, Gbajabiamila allegedly said:
“I almost lost my job as Chief of Staff because of Desmond Elliot. The President queried me saying he was causing problems in Lagos assembly, pitting Christians vs Muslims…”
The comments reportedly surfaced during a town hall meeting amid growing political tension surrounding Desmond Elliot’s reported bid for a fourth term representing Surulere Constituency I.
However, as of now, there has been no widely available official statement, verified video, or formal press release confirming that Gbajabiamila actually remarked publicly.
The controversy comes amid reports of political disagreements and growing opposition to Elliot’s fourth-term ambition within Lagos APC circles.
Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff to President Tinubu, narrates how he almost lost his job during the Lagos Speaker Obasa impeachment saga because of Hon. Desmond Elliot:

Recent reports have suggested a strained political relationship between Gbajabiamila and Elliot, although Elliot himself has publicly denied any feud with the former Speaker.
In previous interviews, Desmond Elliot described Gbajabiamila as his political leader and even appealed for forgiveness if he had offended him politically.
The alleged quote has since sparked heated reactions online, especially among supporters and critics of the actor-turned-politician.
Neither the Presidency nor Gbajabiamila’s office has officially addressed the viral statement at the time of reporting.
