“We Waited Eight Years for That Child” — Illbliss Opens Up About Emotional Journey to Fatherhood

Rapper Illbliss Showers Love on His Wife as She Celebrates Her Birthday

Nigerian rapper and actor Illbliss has shared the emotional story of his journey to fatherhood, revealing that he and his wife waited eight years before welcoming their first child.

Speaking during a recent interview, the music star reflected on the challenges, heartbreak, faith, and eventual joy that marked one of the most significant chapters of his life.

According to Illbliss, whose real name is Tobechukwu Ejiofor, what began as an ordinary hospital visit became a life-changing moment for him and his wife after years of hoping and praying for a child.

“The doctor said everything was fine, but my wife was pregnant. My wife broke down and I broke down as well. The doctor thought we didn’t want the baby, but he had no clue how long we had waited for that child,” he recalled.

The rapper explained that the emotional reaction came from the reality of finally receiving news they had long desired after nearly a decade of marriage.

Illbliss and his wife, Munachiso, got married in 2009 and spent years navigating the challenges of infertility before welcoming their first daughter, Sochikaima, in July 2017.

The musician has previously spoken about the difficult period, revealing that he and his wife had even considered adoption before discovering they were expecting their first child.

Reflecting further on his family journey, Illbliss also opened up about the birth of their second daughter, whom he described as another miracle.

According to him, the pregnancy occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic and was complicated by serious medical concerns.

He revealed that doctors allegedly advised the couple to terminate the pregnancy because they believed the baby would not survive.

However, he and his wife chose to continue with the pregnancy, relying on their faith and convictions.

“Doctors told us to flush and get rid of her because she wouldn’t make it, but we refused. We’re staunch Catholics. We believed God would come through, and God did come through,” he said.

The rapper noted that seeing both daughters healthy and thriving today remains one of the greatest blessings of his life.

Known for hit songs, entrepreneurial ventures, and his acclaimed role as Odogwu Malay in the movie *King of Boys*, Illbliss has increasingly used his platform to share personal reflections on family, faith, and fatherhood.

His story has resonated with many couples who have experienced fertility challenges, long waiting periods, or difficult pregnancies, offering a message of hope and perseverance.

For Illbliss, the birth of his daughters represents more than parenthood. It stands as a reminder of years of patience, unwavering faith, and the emotional journey that eventually led to the family he and his wife had long prayed for.

Today, the couple are proud parents of two daughters, a blessing the rapper says he never takes for granted.
