Nigerian singer BNXN has opened up about his decision to relocate to the United States, revealing that he finds life there more comfortable and less stressful than living in Lagos.

The Afrobeats star shared his views during a TikTok livestream, where he compared his experiences in both locations and highlighted reasons for his move.

According to BNXN, one of the biggest differences he has noticed is the absence of constant financial requests from strangers, a situation he says is common in Lagos.

The singer explained that, despite economic challenges in the United States as well, people generally do not approach him to ask for money the way he experienced it back home.

“I was telling someone, since I got to the United States, nobody has asked me to give them money. And people are also suffering here,” he said.

BNXN also argued that everyday living expenses in Lagos can be surprisingly high, to the point where he believes the city is more expensive than Los Angeles in several aspects.

“Lagos is super expensive. It is more expensive than Los Angeles. Aside from housing, every other thing in LA is not expensive,” he stated.

The singer went on to reveal how much he currently spends on accommodation in the United States, noting that rent is his biggest expense.

“For instance, I am paying $12,000 monthly for my rent. Here you just pay your rent, and you’re good,” he added.

His comments have sparked discussions online, with many Nigerians debating the true cost of living in Lagos compared to major cities abroad.

While some agreed with his assessment, citing rising food prices, transportation costs, utility bills, and security expenses in Lagos, others argued that comparing the two cities requires accounting for income levels and housing costs.

BNXN’s remarks also reflect a growing conversation among celebrities, entrepreneurs, and professionals who have chosen to relocate abroad in search of a different lifestyle and environment.

Known for hit songs such as *Finesse*, *Gwagwalada*, and *Pray*, BNXN has established himself as one of the leading voices in Nigeria’s contemporary music scene.

Over the years, the singer has been open about his experiences, frequently sharing his opinions on music, lifestyle, and social issues.

His latest comments have once again placed the spotlight on the cost of living in Lagos, a city often described as one of Africa’s most expensive urban centres.

For BNXN, however, the decision appears to go beyond finances alone. The singer suggests that the convenience, security, and reduced social pressures he experiences in the United States have contributed significantly to his preference for life abroad.

As reactions continue to pour in, his comments have added fresh fuel to ongoing conversations about quality of life, economic realities, and the challenges of living in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
