Social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM) has taken a swipe at activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore after actress Doris Ogala emerged as a potential governorship candidate for Abia State.
The outspoken influencer questioned Sowore’s political judgment, arguing that putting the Nollywood actress forward to challenge Governor Alex Otti does not reflect the kind of leadership alternative many Nigerians would expect.
Reacting in a video, VDM said he was shocked that, after repeatedly criticizing Otti’s administration and speaking about building a strong political structure, Sowore chose someone he believes lacks the political experience needed for the role.
“Sowore said he has a structure, yet he carried Doris Ogala to become the governor of Abia State. You challenged Alex Otti that he wasn’t working, and all you can produce to pursue Alex is Doris Ogala,” he said.
The critic did not stop there, describing the decision as difficult to understand while insisting that the actress should not even be considered for a lower elective office.
“You are a clown. How can Doris Ogala replace Alex Otti? You didn’t even say she should become a Local Government Chairman.”
VDM praises Alex Otti’s performance
While criticizing Sowore’s reported choice, VDM also used the opportunity to commend Governor Alex Otti, describing him as one of Nigeria’s best-performing governors.
According to him, Otti’s performance in office has made it difficult to understand why anyone would present what he considers a weaker alternative ahead of a future election.
“As of today, Alex Otti is the number one among the governors in this country, yet you are telling me Sowore knows what he is doing and I should join him,” he added.
His comments have since sparked fresh debate on social media, with supporters and critics weighing in on the possibility of entertainers seeking political office and whether popularity alone is enough to qualify someone for leadership.
Doris Ogala is yet to respond
At the time of filing this report, Doris Ogala has not publicly reacted to VDM’s remarks.
Similarly, Omoyele Sowore has neither responded to the criticism nor clarified the actress’s reported ambition for governorship.
The exchange has nevertheless fueled conversations online, with many Nigerians debating the growing involvement of celebrities in politics and the qualities voters should prioritize when choosing public office holders.
Whether the reported political move materializes or not, VDM’s comments have added another layer to the conversation, placing both Sowore and Doris Ogala at the center of a fresh political debate on social media.
