Popular health influencer and medical doctor Aproko Doctor has opened up about his love story with his wife, Chef Amaka, revealing that she did not fit the physical description of the woman he once dreamed of marrying.
The social media personality admitted that although he initially had a clear image of his “ideal woman,” meeting Amaka completely changed his perspective on what truly matters in choosing a life partner.
Speaking during a recent interview, Aproko Doctor said he once believed he knew exactly what he wanted in a wife, including certain physical features.
According to him, he had envisioned marrying a tall woman and had even justified this preference by considering his children’s future.
However, he said Amaka looked nothing like the image he had built in his mind.
“I think spec is completely overrated. How do I say this without, quote and unquote, Instablog please I’m begging you, I’m not insulting my wife, but if you had seen this beautiful woman as at the time when we had our first date, she did not look anything like my spec.”
He continued:
“She did not look like the spec I created in my head. I wanted someone who was just… already made, tall, and the reason I say tall is because of my children. I have to plan ahead for them.”
Despite not matching his physical expectations, the doctor said Amaka’s personality quickly made him realize she was the woman he wanted to spend his life with.
He explained that their conversations, her values and, above all, the kindness she showed to others completely changed the way he viewed relationships.
“But for me, it was what she was saying, the things, her thought, but most importantly for me was her heart towards people.”
Praising his wife, he added:
“Amaka is the kind of person who is an open book. She’s the definition of ‘this person cannot hurt a fly.'”
Aproko Doctor concluded that many people place too much importance on physical appearance when choosing a partner, arguing that qualities such as compassion, character and shared values ultimately matter far more.
His comments have sparked conversations online, with many social media users agreeing that emotional maturity and kindness often outweigh physical preferences when building lasting relationships.
The couple, who frequently share relationship and family moments online, have become admired by many Nigerians for promoting healthy marriages, mutual support and open communication.
