Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has alleged that he fell victim to a multimillion-dollar property scam after discovering that a house he purchased in Lagos allegedly did not belong to the person who sold it to him.
The emotional claim was made during an Instagram Live session on Tuesday, in which the singer appeared visibly distressed as he appealed for help regarding the disputed transaction.
According to Bella Shmurda, he paid $4 million for the property with his own earnings, only to later discover it had allegedly been stolen.
Fighting back tears during the livestream, the singer expressed fears that he could lose the entire investment.
“Nigeria, I need your help. I’m not doing okay right now. I spent $4 million of my own hard-earned money, only to find out I bought stolen property.”
He further alleged that the individual who sold him the property disappeared after receiving payment, leaving him unsure how to recover his money.
“And now the seller has disappeared. Please, help me. Someone step in. I’ve got nothing left.
“I worked for years for this. I can’t lose $4 million like that.”
Bella Shmurda disclosed that he has already contacted his legal team to investigate the matter and determine the next course of action.
“I just contacted my lawyer for further investigation.”
The singer, however, did not reveal the identity of the alleged seller or provide specific details about the property during the livestream.
As of the time of writing, the allegations remain unverified, and no official statement has been issued by the Nigeria Police Force or any other law enforcement agency regarding the alleged transaction.
Likewise, no individual has publicly responded to the claims or been identified in connection with the alleged sale.
If confirmed, the incident would once again draw attention to the risks associated with high-value real estate transactions, particularly where questions of property ownership, title documentation and due diligence arise.
For now, Bella Shmurda’s account represents his version of events, and the matter is expected to be clarified through the legal process and any subsequent investigations by the relevant authorities.
