Enugu State-owned airline Enugu Air has confirmed that one of its aircraft experienced a runway excursion after landing at Benin Airport, assuring the public that everyone on board escaped unharmed.
The airline disclosed the incident in a statement shared on its official X account, stating that all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated and that no injuries or fatalities were recorded.
“Enugu Air wishes to inform the public that one of our aircraft operating into Benin experienced a runway excursion after landing today.
“We confirm that all passengers and crew have safely disembarked and there were no injuries or casualties.”
A runway excursion occurs when an aircraft veers off or overruns the runway during takeoff or landing. While such incidents can range in severity, they are treated seriously by aviation authorities and typically trigger a formal safety investigation.

Enugu Air said the aircraft has been secured and that the appropriate aviation authorities have been notified in line with standard safety procedures. The airline added that an assessment is already underway to determine what led to the incident.

The airline also warned that the incident could lead to temporary adjustments to some of its flight schedules as investigations and operational checks continue.
According to the statement, passengers affected by any schedule changes will be contacted directly and provided with the necessary assistance.
Reassuring customers, Enugu Air stressed that the safety of its passengers, crew and operations remains its top priority.

The cause of the runway excursion has not yet been disclosed, and aviation authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances before releasing their findings.
