Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, Aka African Giant over the weekend become the first Nigerian artist to win a Grammy Award for a musical Album, as his twice as tall Album won the Best Global Music Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
Although due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, Burna Boy couldn’t travel to the U.S for the event.
He was announced the winner of the Award by watching it virtually via the live stream on the internet.

The Afrobeat singer’s album bested his fellow nominees Antibalas (FU Chronicles), Bebel Gilberto (Agora), Anoushka Shankar (Love Letters), and Tinariwen (Amadjar).

Burna Boy was ecstatic about his win as the award marks his first Grammy win, after being nominated last year. He is the first winner of the recently renamed category, formerly known as Best World Music Album.
Veteran Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia a.k.a 2face Idibia, also took to Instagram to congratulate him and shared a photo of the award plaque.
