Philippe Coutinho’s set to join Aston Villa on loan from Barcelona, Official statement now confirms: “The agreement also includes an option to buy clause and Philippe will travel to Birmingham in the next 48 hours”.
Coutinho will be in England as soon as possible in order to complete his move on a 6-month loan. Aston Villa will pay the main part of the salary and so Barcelona is able to register Ferrán Torres.
Coutinho had three approaches from UK clubs but his former teammate Steven Gerrard was a ‘key factor’ to join Aston Villa this winter.
As it stands, Coutinho’s loan is not enough to generate the necessary space in order to register Ferran Torres.
Still, on Sports news, a coronavirus outbreak among Liverpool’s players and staff led to the team’s match against Arsenal in the English League Cup semifinals being postponed Wednesday, adding to the backlog in English soccer caused by the fast-spreading omicron variant. (read details here).
