In preparation for his transfer to Eredivisie champions Ajax, Calvin Bassey arrived in Amsterdam on a Sunday afternoon.
For the adaptable defender, Ajax has already agreed to pay Scottish Premiership powerhouse Glasgow Rangers €22 million plus €5 million in add-ons.
“Calvin Bassey, landed in Amsterdam right now together with his agents in order to undergo medical tests and sign contract as new Ajax player. Done deal,” wrote transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano on Sunday on Twitter.
Bassey was pursued by a number of Premier League teams as well, but Ajax made the decision to hire him.
The 22-year-old will take Lisandro Martinez’s place, an Argentine international who has joined Manchester United.
The player, whom Rangers acquired from Leicester City two years ago for just £230,000, is generating enormous profits for the club.
