Mariska Hargitay Says She Will ‘Miss’ Kelli Giddish ‘A Lot’ Amid Her ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Exit

Mariska Hargitay is gearing up for her 24th episode of Law and Order: SVU, but it will be a self-contradictory one as she prepares to bid her co-star Kelli Giddish farewell.

In August, Giddish announced her departure from the NBC procedural, saying that she will do so as a full-time cast member during the ensuing season. Following Chris Meloni’s shocking departure at the end of season 12, the entertainer joined SVU as criminal investigator Amanda Rollins, working alongside Danny Pino, at the start of season 13. Giddish leaves after a 12-season run.

ET talked with Hargitay on the Law and Request cover in New York on Monday, where she talked about Giddish’s takeoff from the show.

“Gracious god, Kelli. I love Kelli, she’s my young lady,” Hargitay, who is additionally a chief maker on SVU, told ET’s Rachel Smith. “She is one of my #1 entertainers that I’ve at any point worked with and we got to construct something truly gorgeous together and truly procured together in light of the fact that our characters had very much an excursion. It wasn’t so natural toward the start and afterward we just fell into this lovely security, trust.”

“That was a hard one. I will miss that since she was my go-toward, my right hand, the lady that I could converse with,” she said. “Olivia Benson’s out there dealing all the others and she was someone that truly dealt with me and had me covered. Despite the fact that Balance has me covered and Stabler has me covered, it’s different to have a lady have your back since it’s an alternate point of view.”

“I will miss her a ton, however she’s a long lasting companion and I’m simply happy that our ways crossed, and I realize they’ll keep on crossing,” Hargitay guaranteed.

At the hour of her declaration, Giddish posted a close to home note on Instagram clearing up her choice for leave SVU.

“I needed to address the jabber I’ve seen on the web and told everybody that this will, to be sure, be my keep going season on ‘Regulation and Request: SVU,’” Giddish composed at that point. “Playing Rollins has been one of the best delights and honors of my life. I’ve been so lucky to be a piece of the ‘Law and Request’ family throughout the previous 12 years. There is essentially no other person on television like Rollins. She’s developed and changed, and I have too. I began this show when I was in my late 20s and I’m appreciative I got to spend so many of my grown-up years with Rollins in my life.”

“It was simply so fun,” she said of working inverse different projects. “As a matter of some importance, it’s consistently a delight to work with Chris and for us to be back together. It simply feels like home and Camryn [Manheim] and I have been companions for quite a while and getting to work with her – – in light of the fact that when she previously came over I was like, ‘Are we going to have scenes together?’ Obviously we didn’t actually in light of the fact that we’re on various shows. Thus, working with the entertainers and getting to go external our jungle gym and stirring with various characters raises various things. Simply getting to work with this multitude of mind boggling entertainers in an alternate limit, however yet all of us are similar to cousins. There’s this familial quality to it that is so gorgeous.”

Regulation and Request: SVU returns Thursday, Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC as a component of a three-hour hybrid occasion with Regulation and Request and Regulation and Request: Coordinated Wrongdoing.
