Ange Postecoglou has been appointed as Tottenham Hotspur’s next head coach on a four-year contract.
The 57-year-old from Celtic will begin work on July 1.
He will be the first Australian manager to take charge of a Premier League team.
“Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play.
“He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy — everything that is important to our club.
“We are excited to have Ange join us as we prepare for the season ahead,” Chairman Daniel Levy said in a statement.
Spurs were expected to approach Celtic over a move for Postecoglou and talks progressed quickly on Monday after he expressed a desire to manage in England.
Initial indications were that Postecoglou would sign a shorter contract and the four-year deal is a statement of intent from both parties at the end of a 72-day search for Antonio Conte’s successor.
