Godwin Emefiele, the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) suspended governor, has reportedly been taken into custody by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Emefiele is being investigated at, according to the DSS.
Hours after claiming he wasn’t “currently” being held, the secret police confirmed his arrest on Saturday.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, issued a statement stating that Emefiele’s suspension was “sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.”
Additionally, Mr. Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi was named by Tinubu as acting governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now in its custody for some investigative reasons.
