DSS Arrests Two Dismissed Operatives for Impersonation and Fraud

The Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed the arrest of two dismissed operatives, Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, who were previously linked to fraudulent activities while posing as personnel of the agency.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the DSS revealed that both individuals had earlier been disclaimed for impersonating the Service to defraud unsuspecting members of the public. The agency noted that their arrest is part of ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities involving fake operatives.

According to the DSS, the suspects will be prosecuted in accordance with the law, as the agency intensifies measures to safeguard the public from individuals falsely representing themselves as its officers.

The Service also announced plans to publish the names of other previously dismissed officers to help Nigerians identify and avoid impostors.

“The public is hereby notified that these culprits have been apprehended and will face prosecution in accordance with the law. The Service has further resolved to publish the names of other personnel, who were dismissed in the past, to prevent citizens from falling victim of possible criminal intent of any of these individuals,” the DSS stated.

The DSS further urged citizens to remain vigilant and always verify the identity of anyone claiming to represent the agency before engaging with them.
