Cesar Azpilicueta, a veteran defender for Chelsea, is rumored to have rejected a move to San Siro despite an agreement with the Serie A powerhouses, and Inter Milan have expressed their outrage.
According to reports, Chelsea has told their seasoned defender that they would no longer require his services starting in the next campaign.
Beppe Marotta, CEO of Inter Milan, said that the Atletico Madrid offer had more of a chance of luring the Spanish defender.
This summer, Azpilicueta will reportedly sign with Atletico Madrid, according to Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
This is despite having a verbal agreement in place to join Inter Milan.
Atletico’s offer, according to Marotta, has the Spaniard more intrigued.
“It seems that he’s tempted by a proposal from Spain [Atlético Madrid] and so he’s negotiating with them.
“We considered Azpilicueta as a good option but he’s focused on this bid from Spain,” he said, according to Romano.
